I just finished my first-ever JV Fall Conference. This one was a bit less overwhelming than the Spring Conference, probably because I’m more than a week off the boat.
Unlike the Spring Conference, which was a family conference focused on ex-pats, a Fall Conferences is very international, with teams and workers coming in from a dozen countries. One of the most fun afternoons was the soccer tournament. I guess I have a thing for spending the day outside, in the cold, watching athletes. Made me miss my coaching days!
I know you’re wondering: the final was Slovenia vs Estonia, and Slovenia won in overtime.
The theme of the conference was “Radiate,” how to burn brightly with a white-hot faith that causes others to catch fire. Wouldn’t we all love to do that? Wouldn’t we love to be a part of a revival that sweeps our cities, our countries? Is there a way to make this happen?? Moses, who at a point literally radiated God’s glory, provides a hint.
“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai… he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.” --Exodus 34:29
Moses wasn't trying to shine. He wasn’t even aware of it.
How did Moses come to radiate God’s glory so strongly? By looking at Him. And here is my sweetly simple take-away from the conference: the best thing I can do for ministry is to spend time looking at God.
